I guess downloading Colbert Report & The Daily Show is the only option for some

Because Viacom and DirecTV are fighting; fans of shows on 26 channels including Comedy Central, MTV & Nickelodeon are going to miss out because DirecTV canceled these channels over rates charged by Viacom.

DirectTV told fans of shows on the canceled channels that it’s not so bad that they wont be able to watch shows like The Colbert Report & The Daily Show because these shows stream for free on the internet.
Viacom decided to be assholes and have blocked all streaming of TV shows owned by Viacom for ALL not just for people unfortunate enough to be on DirecTV but for EVERYBODY.

So you still want your fix of the Colbert Report or the Daily Show? keep reading for your fix.

Viacom and DirecTV are further forcing people to download their TV shows ‘illegally’; DirecTV for ditching the channels and Viacom for blocking access to streaming episodes and they wonder why people still continue to break the law to watch their shows.

If you still want to watch your TV shows that are not being shown on DirecTV and not being Streamed online then all you need to do is follow the instructions I have here to start downloading these episodes that you will miss otherwise.

This article from Huffpost explains the situation a bit more.

The battle between DirecTV and Viacom has simply claimed an enormous casualty: on-line streaming episodes of “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

Viacom and DirecTV are publicly battling over DirecTV’s reluctance to pay the fees Viacom demands to hold their twenty sixchannels. On Tuesday evening, the satellite supplier dropped all twenty six Viacom channels, together with Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV, from their lineup.

DirecTV has noted to customers that though they’re losing Comedy Central on DirecTV, anyone will simply watchfashionable shows like “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” on the web, where videos found on official Comedy Central websites are embeddable in order that they may be played on alternative sites (such because the Huffington Post).

But Viacom continued to play hardball. As of Thursday, full episodes of the shows are aloof from the official “Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” websites, though individual clips of the episodes are still obtainable.

The move is probably going to upset viewers who don’t subscribe to DirecTV, however who can still be unable to look at full episodes of their favorite shows owing to the 2 corporations’ feud. Presumably, the suspension won’t be permanent, and episodes can resume streaming on-line when DirecTV and Viacom reach an agreement to reinstate Viacom programming.

Both “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” are on hiatus in the weekhowever their official websites are running ads encouraging fans to decision DirecTV to voice support of Viacom shows…….. continue to Huffpost

The Revolution TV show on NBC

Revolution on NBC perhaps the next greatest TV show EVER!

Oh wow guys I just came across this trailer on youtube that you just have to see

A new TV series called Revolution created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural), Executive producers are  J.J. Abrams (Lost, FringeAlcatraz etc) & directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Iron Man 2); with a powerhouse like this you know this new show Revolution is going to be absolutely EPIC!

The show starts off 2012 when everything turns off and I mean EVERYTHING! cars, planes, cellphones, batteries, computers EVERYTHING!; fast forward 15 years later and the world is a completely different place; you’ve got massive plant growth in the cities, people living like they did before computers and warlords YEP! Revolution got warlords!

Basically the show centers around the daughter of a guy who is killed who may or may not know how the whole turning off of everything went down; she’s after her brother who has been kidnapped by one of these warlords and has to meet up with her uncle (Billy Burke from Twilight[don’t let this little thing put you off the show though]) her uncle is super kick ass with ninja swords and well… you should watch the trailer and check out the Pilot episode of Revolution when it airs on NBC 17 September 9/10c (yeah this is a long time away and I’m super disappointed about this 🙁 )

I think Revolution has the potential be the greatest show of the year and I hope they pick up a full season (or 10)

Game of Thrones Crowned Most Pirated TV-Show of the Season

Check out Torrent Freaks recent Blog post where they list the top 10  most downloaded TV-shows on BitTorrent in 2011 and it’s no surprise that Game Of Thrones leads the list.

All I have to say on this matter is if the studio’s let anybody no matter which country they reside in download the shows for a fair price then they would cut down on a HUGE amount of piracy bar the pirates that are to cheap (or too poor).

Please take the following poll.

Would you pay to download tv legally?

How to use Spotify outside of USA

**Edit 2/3/2012***
There is a very good tutorial located at Fergeeks website which contains step by step instructions on how to get Spotify to work if you are not located in USA; Link here

If you want to use Spotify Music but are not in the USA or Europe where Spotify Music is able to be used here is a way to do this.

Have a friend who lives where Spotify is able to be used sign up for a free account for you using your email, password etc.
This friend then logs in for the first time using your login information.

You can now use the free version of spotify Music for 14 days; after which your US friend needs to log back in to your account for a couple of seconds to reset the 14 day Abroad function then you can log back in and listen to more free music.

You can also sign up for a VPN service like Hidemyass http://bit.ly/pN3tKU if you do not have a friend in a country where Spotify Music is located; this will allow you to go through the signup process yourself and log your self into Spotify Music.
The unfortunate part is a VPN costs about $11 a month but this this enable you to have free unlimited music and watch free unlimited TV on hulu.com; you can also go on many other sites that are restricted to US audiences so $11 a month is a small price to pay I think.

We have a VPN tutorial on this page right here

http://www.spotify.com for more information.

Please share this around; free music is awesome.

Netflix Gets Exclusive ‘Arrested Development’ Streaming Rights For New Season

If you’ve been feeling a bit coldly toward Netflix recently, you might want to listen up: The media-streaming giant has signed an exclusive deal to resurrect acclaimed comedy series “Arrested Development.”

New episodes will be available only to Netflix streaming subscribers in the U.S. in 2013.

“For the first time in their histories, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Television will produce original first-run entertainment content for the world’s leading internet subscription service, bringing back the acclaimed series to production on all new episodes five years after its cancellation,”read Netflix’s press release.

“Netflix’s bold entrance into original programming presents an exciting new opportunity for our two companies,” Fox Filmed Entertainment’s President of New Media & Digital Distribution Peter Levinsohn was quoted in the release. “Bringing a classic show back to production on new episodes exclusively for Netflix customers is a game changer, and illustrates the incredible potential the new digital landscape affords great content providers like Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine.”

This isn’t just awesome for fans of the six-time Emmy Award-winning “Arrested Development,” which aired on Fox from 2003 until its cancellation in 2006. It’s is also great news for Netflix, which has taken hit after hit in last few months. In July, the company announced that it would split its streaming and DVD-by-mail combo subscription into two separate subscriptions, and that customers who wanted to keep their combo plan would see a price hike of 60 percent. Naturally, these decisions prompted an instant uproar from customers.

Then, in September, Netflix said that it would spin off its DVD-by-mail service into a separate business, which would be called Qwikster. The idea did not go over well with customers and media alike, and Netflix killed off Qwikster in October.

But it doesn’t stop there. Later in October, Netflix announced that it expected to lose about 800,000 customers for the third quarter of 2011, a much higher loss than the company had anticipated after its rocky summer and early autumn.

Yes, the road has been rough for Netflix recently. But “Arrested Development,” with its rabid fan following, is a pretty big get. To quote TechCrunch, “Netflix makes up for all its past mistakes by resurrecting [this show].”

“Arrested Development” follows the misadventures of the dysfunctional Bluth family. The series stars an ensemble cast including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat. Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television will produce the series while Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Mitch Hurwitz will serve as executive producers. It was announced in October that the show would be revived for nine to 10 episodes followed by a movie based on the series.

In March, Netflix signed an exclusive agreement to air upcoming drama series “House of Cards,” starring Kevin Spacey. The series has yet to make its debut.

Why do I download TV illegally?

I live in New Zealand and New Zealand gets TV shows quite a bit later than the rest of the world.

I download TV shows because I like to keep up with my favorite shows and I like to discuss these shows online with fans of the shows as soon as they air for the first time in the shows country of origin and NOT months after if I were to watch the shows when the network wants me to watch them in my country of residence.

I download ALOT of TV; probably alot more than the average person; I am a huge TV aficionado but I do not have a cable hooked up to my TV giving me local TV because quite frankly the TV shows produced in New Zealand are utter shit.

My parents cant understand why I do not have my TV hooked up to the satellite that came with the house; they cant understand that I don’t even want it hooked up if even just to watch the news; Mum, Dad; I can read the news on the internet and watch the highlight clips and don’t have to sit there listening to the news hosts make jokes that aren’t funny even in the slightest.

When I come home from work my computer has all the shows downloaded that aired that day in America OR where ever they aired and the computer has even put the TV show in the right directory on my Hard drive; all done automatically and there are no commercial breaks 🙂

Isn’t this illegal?  in a matter of speaking yes it is illegal but not in the criminal sense; you cant go to jail for downloading TV and I wouldn’t have to break the law if the TV networks just changed their way of doing business.

The way I figure it is that the  TV networks are pissed because people are downloading their TV shows ‘illegally’and so they are missing out on Advertising revenue because the people who upload the shows to the net are cutting all the ads out.

Now if the TV networks had one ad at the start of the Show and one ad at the end of the show and very minimal ads at the bottom of the screen during the show; maybe a little product placement in the show its self; they could then release the show to a global audience simultaneously online (steaming or for download) which would work if they could cut advertising deals with local companies.

The TV networks could even charge a flat rate monthly fee for subscribers to download or stream high quality TV shows; maximum of $3-4 per network of course; TV shows are spread through out a huge number of networks; I alone have shows on at least five networks which would make my bill $15-20 monthly; I am already paying around the same price to download these shows ‘illegally’ so I have no problem paying the same to download them legally.

So until the TV networks come around to the 21st century way of doing business in a global market; I will keep downloading my TV shows ‘illegally’ and they will keep losing advertising revenue.

When I was living in America in 2008 I was downloading torrents and received notices from copyright holders quite frequently but I do not download torrents any more so no more notices for me 🙂  besides my way is faster; check out the proof.

I can show you the way I download  TV shows quickly, safely (and did I mention… FREE 🙂 ); either manually or even automatically if you feel so inclined; please continue to [Step One]
